Germany is recognized as one of the top study destinations for international students, especially for those looking to continue their education in pre-university courses. College courses in Germany, known as Studienkolleg, are designed for students whose high school diplomas are not directly accepted for admission to German universities. We have explained in detail why the 12-year diploma from Iran differs from the German high school diploma and why applicants need to provide a document equivalent to the German Abitur. Stay with EzyWay until the end.
Introduction to College Courses in Germany (Studienkolleg)
German colleges are divided into five categories, each designed to meet the specific needs of different fields of study:
M-Kurs for medical and experimental sciences
T-Kurs for technical and engineering fields
W-Kurs for economic fields
G-Kurs for humanities
S-Kurs for language-related fields
In Germany, the education system is structured so that high school lasts for 13 years. In contrast, in Iran, high school only lasts for 12 years. Therefore, students who intend to migrate to Germany for university studies need to complete a one-year program (including two semesters) at German colleges to obtain a document equivalent to the German Abitur. This document qualifies them for admission to German universities.
Although most colleges are two semesters long, there are a few public colleges that are one semester long, such as Mainz College in the state of Pfalz Rheinland.

Important Notes
If due to low GPA, admission to the M-Kurs college for medical, dental, and pharmaceutical studies is not possible, we can apply for fields like chemistry, biology, etc., to obtain admission to the M-Kurs college.
The good news is that most universities do not require a letter of entry to the college for the resume and motivation letter.
Entrance and Final Exams for German Colleges
The end of schooling (diploma) is not sufficient for direct study at the undergraduate level in Germany, so to enter German universities, one must successfully complete the college course and its final exams. Public colleges usually have an entrance exam and a final exam.
Meanwhile, some private colleges do not have entrance and final exams, in which case students must participate in the final exam of a public college. Usually, private colleges send their students to take the final exam of a public college. Note that the entrance and final exams of each college differ from one another.
Entrance Exam (Aufnahmeprüfung)
To study at the college level in Germany, you must first take the entrance exam for the college, which is in German. The subjects tested vary by college, but the definitive part of this exam is the German language test, and in some other colleges, math or another subject is also part of the exam topics.
Final Assessment Exam (Feststellungsprüfung FSP)
The college prepares the person specifically for the final assessment exam. The assessment exam essentially covers all subjects taught in the college course. For example, the final exams of the T-Kurs college may include subjects like chemistry, physics, math, language, etc. The final exams of the M-Kurs college may also include the mentioned subjects and biology. However, note that the exam subjects of colleges differ.
